Teacher's Valor: Rescue Mission Under Fire

On August 15, Ukrainian junior lieutenant Vladyslav Polskyi, nicknamed 'Teacher,' executed a daring rescue mission in Ukraine's Kharkiv region. He drove into a heavily mined area, known as the "kill zone," to save two soldiers from another battalion. One fighter was injured and had managed to hide, while the other remained stranded on a land drone that had been immobilized by a Russian drone strike. Polskyi, a former science teacher who joined the army in 2023, undertook the mission without protective gear, prioritizing the soldiers' lives.

The rescue highlighted the limitations of current battlefield technology, as the Russian drone disabled the Ukrainian land drone by severing its Starlink connection. Polskyi managed to evade enemy drones while racing back with the wounded men. His extraordinary bravery was recognized with the Hero of Ukraine award, presented by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy during Independence Day celebrations in Kyiv. This act of courage has captured the nation's attention, emphasizing the importance of caring for soldiers on the front lines.
