A significant humanitarian effort has seen a powerful generator, described as "big enough to power a small village," dispatched from Guernsey to the war-affected city of Odesa in Ukraine. This initiative was spearheaded by Guernsey businessman John Mellor, who donated the generator from an old building in St Peter Port.
The substantial equipment will be deployed to provide crucial energy and infrastructure for a village in the Odesa region. The complex logistics of the delivery were managed by Nick Reid, with Marc Laine undertaking the challenging drive of almost 2,000 miles from Guernsey to Ukraine.
