Summary
- Blindfolded Gaza man in underwear pictured face down in Israeli custody.
- Two Palestinian mothers claim the mistreated man is their missing son.
- Israel acknowledges the treatment 'does not align' with its values.

A photograph depicting a blindfolded Gaza man stripped to his underwear and restrained in Israeli custody has surfaced, causing distress to two Palestinian mothers. Both women, Rana Abu Nassar and Joudeh Al-Ghoul, assert with certainty that the man in the image is their respective missing sons. The man in the screenshot is shown with hands bound behind his back, face down on a cot, and a wooden rod secured to his body. The image, posted on a now-deleted Instagram account, included Hebrew text.
The Israeli military has acknowledged the authenticity of the incident and stated that an inquiry is underway, with those involved to be held accountable. However, the identity and location of the detainee have not been revealed. Abu Nassar recognized her son Osama, arrested in March near Israel's armistice line, by specific physical details including swelling on his leg. Al-Ghoul identified her son Amin, arrested in November 2023, by his hair and chin, expressing profound maternal recognition.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society has submitted the names of both men to the military, seeking to arrange lawyer visits. Approximately 1,200 Palestinians from Gaza are detained in Israel under the Internment of Unlawful Combatants Law. Lawyer visits are reportedly difficult and subject to lengthy coordination processes.
