A horrific attack at a Hanukkah celebration on Sydney's Bondi Beach has left 15 people dead and nearly 40 injured. Two gunmen opened fire on Sunday during the event, an act Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned as "an act of evil antisemitism." The band Garbage, who performed in Sydney shortly after the tragedy, addressed the massacre during their concert.
Lead singer Shirley Manson expressed profound dismay at the world's escalating violence and hate. She implored attendees to counter such intolerance by professing love for one another, emphasizing a shared humanity regardless of faith, race, or identity. Manson criticized those in power who promote division and destruction.
The band also shared their distress on Instagram, revealing that six family members had been present at Bondi Beach earlier that day. They denounced the "horrific incident" and expressed solidarity with the Jewish community, calling for an end to antisemitism and Islamophobia.
