Many ex-insurgents were compelled to undergo vasectomies during their time in the movement, often in their late teens or early twenties. Now, seeking to build normal family lives, they are reclaiming their desire for parenthood. Over 30 male cadres recently underwent these procedures in Jagdalpur.
The surgeries, performed by volunteer specialists at Maharani Hospital, require great precision. While success rates vary, the program aims to restore dignity, family, and social acceptance. Officials estimate over 100 former Maoists may eventually seek this life-changing procedure, signifying a remarkable transformation in the region.
