- The attack occurred at Lassa Day Secondary School on Monday.
- An insurgency from armed groups plagues the northeast region.

Thirty-six students have gone missing after gunmen attacked the Lassa Day Secondary School in Borno state, northeastern Nigeria. The raid, which took place on Monday, also resulted in the death of at least one teacher. The abducted students, aged 15 to 18, were reportedly taking their secondary school leaving examinations at the time of the attack.
Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has dispatched a delegation of officials to the affected community and emphasized the authorities' commitment to securing the safe return of the missing students and staff. The Borno education commissioner described the incident as unfortunate and confirmed ongoing collaboration with security agencies and community leaders.
No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the abduction. However, the region has been plagued by an insurgency from armed groups, including Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), which have caused thousands of deaths and displaced millions. This incident follows a recent Nigerian army rescue of over 300 people abducted by Boko Haram.
