Chinese Routers Hide 'Endlessdoors' Backdoor
5 Aug
Summary
- Over 20 router models ship with a backdoor named 'Endlessdoors'.
- The backdoor allows potential access to other network devices.
- At least 100,000 affected routers are estimated worldwide.

Cybersecurity researchers have uncovered a hidden backdoor, termed 'Endlessdoors,' present in over 20 models of Zbtlink routers sold internationally under Zbtlink and Wiflyer brands. This vulnerability allows unauthorized access to devices on a network and is a significant cause for concern.
Security experts estimate that at least 100,000 of these affected routers are in use globally, though their precise locations remain unknown. The backdoor automatically communicates with a specific IP address and a Chinese-registered domain every 35 seconds, raising fears about potential malicious exploitation.
This discovery intensifies ongoing Western apprehension regarding the cybersecurity implications of Chinese-made networking equipment. U.S. regulators have recently taken steps to restrict imports of foreign-made routers due to national security concerns.
