YouTube has begun rolling out a significant redesign of its video player interface on smart TVs, announced on December 11th. This update, which aims to provide a more intuitive user experience, primarily affects the player's layout rather than content selection.
The most notable changes include the relocation of the video title to the top of the screen and the grouping of all playback controls along the bottom bar. Frequently used functions like Pause, Previous, and Next are centrally located, while channel-specific options such as creator profiles, descriptions, and subscription toggles are positioned on the left.
Additional controls like Like, Dislike, Save, Closed Captions, and Settings are now found on the right side. The redesign also introduces new features such as a Multiview option for live sports content and a Display Mode for YouTube Music and Premium subscribers, further enhancing the smart TV viewing experience.
