Xbox Quick Resume: Turn It Off Now!

Xbox Insiders are now receiving a highly requested feature that allows them to disable the Quick Resume function for individual games on Xbox Series X|S consoles. This update provides users with the ability to ensure games boot up fresh each time they are launched, bypassing potential issues with Quick Resume.

The Quick Resume feature, introduced with the current generation of consoles, enables players to suspend multiple games simultaneously and return to them instantly. However, it has been observed to cause problems with certain titles, especially always-online games, which may require a full restart when resuming from a suspended state.

Beyond game-specific Quick Resume controls, the upcoming Xbox update will also bring enhanced customization to the dashboard. Users will be able to set custom background colors and will see the limit for Groups on the Home screen expanded from two to ten, with reordering capabilities for these groups.

These new features are currently available to select Xbox Insiders and are expected to be rolled out to all users eventually. This move addresses long-standing community feedback, with former Xbox employee Larry Hryb having first requested the Quick Resume disable option five years ago.
