Microsoft and Discord Tease New Game Pass Perks

Microsoft has initiated teases for an upcoming partnership between Discord and Xbox Game Pass. This move is intended to enhance the flexibility of Game Pass for its user base, according to Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma. The exact nature of this new collaboration is not yet fully disclosed.

However, given the focus on Game Pass, it is highly probable that the partnership will introduce exclusive benefits for subscribers. Currently, Game Pass Ultimate members receive a month of Discord Nitro. Future offerings could potentially include Discord Nitro Basic or specific Nitro features as part of the subscription bundle.

This announcement comes as Microsoft prepares to introduce these upcoming changes, with Sharma noting that some users may soon observe related code. The company intends to share further details imminently. This follows a previously reported initiative to bundle third-party services with Game Pass subscriptions, with discussions also held regarding potential bundles with services like Netflix.

Microsoft and Discord have a history of collaboration, beginning in 2018 with the linking of Xbox Live and Discord profiles. Their relationship deepened with the integration of voice chat into the Xbox dashboard in 2022, with further enhancements made in 2024 to enable streaming Discord content on Xbox consoles.
