A prototype for what is believed to be the Xbox Elite Series 3 controller has emerged, featuring a previously unseen built-in screen. Leaked images showcase new scroll wheels on the bottom edge and a potential second wireless mode for direct connection to Xbox Cloud Gaming servers. This mode may be activated via a new 'Pair Button' located near the controller's screen.
The controller's screen appears to display an Xbox Cloud Gaming rocket ship icon alongside an Xbox Series X. Further images reveal additional details such as four rear paddles, a battery compartment with a QR code for repair information, and accessible Torx T6 screws, indicating a focus on home repairability. Despite these disclosures, the prototype is reported to be non-functional, failing to pair wirelessly or via cable.
Labels such as "NOT FOR SALE" and placeholder ID numbers confirm its prototype status. However, industry sources suggest that Microsoft is still planning to release this controller later in the year, hinting that the disclosed features may indeed make it to the final product.
