No Game Pass? Play Xbox Cloud Games for $3.99
21 Oct
Summary
- Xbox Cloud Gaming launches pay-as-you-go bundles starting at $3.99.
- Bundles offer 10 hours of playtime for $3.99, without a Game Pass subscription.
- Grand Theft Auto VI streaming rights secured for Xbox Cloud.
Starting in November, Microsoft is opening Xbox Cloud Gaming to all players, removing the requirement for an Xbox Game Pass subscription. A new pay-as-you-go system will allow users to purchase cloud gaming time in bundles. These bundles will be available for purchase by Xbox Insiders starting today, ahead of the wider release next month.
Pricing for these bundles begins at $3.99 for 10 hours of cloud playtime. Additional options include 25 hours for $7.99 and 50 hours for $11.99. All purchased hours come with benefits such as ad-free gaming, reduced wait times, and enhanced streaming quality. These hours do not expire monthly, remaining available until fully used.
The introduction of this flexible pricing model coincides with significant content acquisitions. Microsoft has secured the streaming rights for Grand Theft Auto VI, a highly anticipated title. However, the streaming of Grand Theft Auto VI may be restricted to Xbox consoles, with indications that PC and browser access might not support it.
Additionally, Microsoft continues to explore free, ad-supported cloud gaming options for Xbox Insiders. This alternative allows playing owned games for up to one hour per session without a Game Pass subscription.
