X Product Head Steps Down, Becomes Advisor

Nikita Bier, the head of product at X, has announced his departure from the role, opting to serve as an advisor. Bier conveyed in a statement that it was time to "pass the torch" and return to his "natural state: a poster." This transition occurs just over a month after he celebrated his first year in the position and weeks following the public debut of Elon Musk's consolidated SpaceX, X, and xAI ventures.

During Bier's leadership, nearly every facet of X has undergone reconstruction. This includes significant overhauls to the platform's timeline, its Android application, messaging features, and notification systems. The company's next phase of product leadership will be spearheaded by Benji Taylor for design, with iOS lead Jonah Katz and Mridul Singhai guiding the product team.

Bier also acknowledged the long-awaited launch of X Money, a feature that Elon Musk had initially projected for release by the end of 2024. Under his guidance, X has consistently prioritized incentivizing native posts and implemented login requirements for accessing various functionalities. Last month, Bier commented on the challenges posed by missing data from the X algorithm, describing the platform's experience as a "battleground."

Previously, Bier co-founded notable startups such as tbh, which Meta acquired, and Gas, which Discord purchased. His appointment as head of product at X occurred just days before Linda Yaccarino's departure as CEO, and he has since been a prominent public representative for the company.
