World's Smallest RF Connector Unveiled
29 Oct
Summary
- New connectors measure just 1.0mm x 1.0mm x 0.55mm.
- Reduces PCB mounting area by approximately 40%.
- Supports frequencies up to 15 GHz for advanced devices.
Murata Manufacturing has initiated mass production of its SWL series RF/microwave coaxial connectors, setting a new benchmark for small-form-factor components. Measuring a mere 1.0 mm x 1.0 mm x 0.55 mm, these connectors are the world's smallest of their kind, featuring an integrated switch.
This significant size reduction, approximately 40% smaller than previous models, addresses the growing challenge of limited PCB space in modern wireless devices. When paired with specialized probes, the SWL series further decreases the overall footprint required for RF measurement by up to 60%.
The SWL series operates across a frequency range from DC to 15 GHz, maintaining a nominal impedance of 50 Ω. Dedicated probes to complement the connectors are slated for mass production in December 2026.
Murata remains committed to developing innovative electronic components that facilitate the creation of more compact and high-performance devices, particularly in the smartphone and wearable technology sectors.
