World App, a biometric ID verification project co-founded by Sam Altman, has released a significant update to its application. This newest version introduces several key features, including an end-to-end encrypted chat function and an enhanced cryptocurrency payment system, similar to Venmo.
The platform, developed by Tools for Humanity, aims to counter the rise of AI-generated digital fakery by offering tools to verify users as human. The new chat feature, World Chat, uses encryption comparable to Signal and color-codes conversations to indicate user verification status, encouraging trust within the network.
Alongside the communication enhancements, the app now offers expanded crypto transaction capabilities. Users can also receive paychecks directly into their World App virtual accounts and convert funds to cryptocurrency. These updates signify an effort to drive broader adoption of the World ID verification system, which relies on iris scans.
