- The update aims to improve usability without mouse and keyboard.

Microsoft is expanding its full screen Windows experience (FSE) to a wider range of Windows 11 handheld devices, with the rollout commencing on November 21. This new interface is designed to offer a more intuitive, console-like user experience, prioritizing touch and controller input over traditional mouse and keyboard navigation.
The FSE transforms the standard Windows desktop into a streamlined, game-centric environment. It primarily hosts the Xbox PC app, which acts as a unified launcher for games across multiple digital storefronts like Steam and the Epic Games Store. Additionally, it provides convenient access to Microsoft's Game Pass subscription service, enhancing its appeal to gamers.
Beyond game aggregation, FSE includes optimizations to reduce system resource usage and simplify initial setup and app management. While still in its early stages compared to established systems like SteamOS, this broader release is expected to accelerate Microsoft's development and iteration of the FSE software.
