Windows PCs Get New Cloud Rebuild Feature

Microsoft has introduced a new feature called Cloud rebuild, currently in preview, designed to provide a clean installation of Windows 11. This tool is intended to help users whose operating systems have become unbootable. Unlike the existing 'Reset this PC' option, Cloud rebuild downloads both the Windows image and necessary drivers directly from Windows Update. This ensures the system is fully functional with the latest security patches and updates applied immediately after installation, eliminating the need for additional manual updates or external media.

Access to Cloud rebuild is available through the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build (26300.8772 or higher) and is recommended for testing on non-primary systems or virtual machines. The process involves navigating through the Advanced startup options to select Cloud rebuild, which will then prompt the user to confirm the removal of all personal files, settings, and applications. Microsoft is testing this feature for reliability, with a wider release anticipated within the next few months.

This new recovery method complements other existing tools such as recovery drives, 'Reset this PC', Quick Machine Recovery, and the previewed Point-in-Time restore feature. Each tool offers different solutions depending on the nature of the Windows issue and the user's need to preserve personal data and settings. The introduction of Cloud rebuild signifies Microsoft's ongoing efforts to improve system recovery and stability for Windows 11 users.
