- Start menu size and sections will soon be adjustable.

Microsoft is rolling out new Windows 11 test features that offer significant customization for the taskbar and Start menu. Users in the Experimental channel can now reposition the taskbar to any edge of the screen—bottom, top, left, or right—and adjust icon alignment. A shorter taskbar option is also available, beneficial for smaller displays. These updates aim to rebuild user trust by enhancing core PC interaction elements.
The Start menu is also receiving an upgrade, with options to adjust its size to 'Small' or 'Large.' New toggles will give users control over displaying 'Pinned,' 'Recommended' (now renamed 'Recent'), and 'All' app sections. Furthermore, users can choose to hide their name and profile picture from the Start menu, a feature useful for presentations or screen sharing. These enhancements are expected to roll out widely in the coming weeks.
