Microsoft Confirms RDP Display Glitch After Updates
28 Apr
Summary
- Windows 11 Remote Desktop shows incorrect security warnings.
- Multiple monitors with different scaling cause display errors.
- Microsoft suggests uniform scaling or keyboard navigation.

Microsoft is actively investigating a display issue impacting the Remote Desktop feature in Windows 11. This bug emerged after the installation of updates KB5083769 and KB5082052, released in April 2026. The problem specifically occurs on systems utilizing multiple monitors with disparate display scaling settings, such as 100% on one screen and 125% on another.
When this condition is met, the security warning window for Remote Desktop files may render incorrectly. This can manifest as overlapping text or partially obscured buttons, hindering the user's ability to read or interact with the warning. Microsoft has acknowledged this side effect of enhanced security mechanisms introduced in update KB5083769 to protect against RDP file vulnerabilities.
Until a permanent solution is deployed, Microsoft is recommending two temporary workarounds for affected users. Firstly, users can achieve uniform scaling by adjusting the display settings for each connected monitor to the same value. Secondly, navigating the warning window using keyboard commands, specifically the Tab key to move between options and the Spacebar to confirm selections, is suggested as an alternative to mouse interaction.
