6 Apr
Summary
- Windows 11 will soon offer experimental feature toggles.
- This new system replaces the previous staggered rollout.
- Users are warned of potential performance or stability issues.
Microsoft is preparing to introduce a new "Feature Flags" system for Windows 11 Insiders, offering a significant shift from its previous controlled feature rollout. This upcoming setting, referenced in recent builds, will empower users to manually toggle experimental features on or off. This move addresses a long-standing request from Insiders, providing an alternative to the lottery-like staggered rollout and the more technical ViVeTool. Users enabling these flags will receive warnings that the features are in development and could affect system performance or stability. The exact rollout timeline for this enhanced control remains undisclosed, but it promises a more direct way for users to test upcoming Windows 11 updates.
