Summary
- Windows 11 now features a native internet speed testing tool.
- The integrated tool offers a faster, more convenient testing experience.
- This new feature is currently available for Windows Insiders.

Microsoft has introduced a new, integrated internet speed test tool directly into Windows 11. This feature allows users to measure their Ethernet or Wi-Fi upload and download speeds without leaving their current workflow. The tool is designed to be more convenient than the previous method, which directed users to a Bing web page.
Currently, this native speed test is accessible to users enrolled in the Windows Insider Program, specifically those using the Experimental channel. To enable it, users may need to activate a feature flag in the Windows Insider settings. Once activated, the speed test can be launched from the Quick Settings menu or by right-clicking the network icon.
The new tool provides a graphical representation of speeds during testing and delivers the final results for both download and upload performance. Early indications suggest the tool is powered by Ookla's SpeedTest, as the results have shown similarity to tests conducted on Ookla's standalone website. This integration signifies a significant improvement in how Windows users can monitor their internet connectivity.
