20 Feb
Summary
- Copilot now powers File Explorer and the taskbar search.
- Users can prompt AI agents directly from the taskbar search.
- New voice and text AI features arrive for Copilot+ PCs.
Microsoft is significantly expanding AI capabilities within Windows 11, integrating its Copilot tool more deeply into the operating system. Users can now access AI agents directly from the Windows 11 search bar by typing '@', allowing for prompts like comparing public sentiment. File Explorer also features a new Copilot button next to files, enabling quick summarization without opening documents.
Further enhancements are available for Copilot+ PC users, including advanced voice transcription, contextual screenshotting, and improved natural language search. This push for deeper AI integration comes as Microsoft seeks to increase Copilot adoption, though some internal teams are reportedly pushing back against excessive feature integration.
