Meta has rolled out an updated version of WhatsApp for CarPlay, introducing a much-improved native interface. Previously, CarPlay functionality for WhatsApp was largely restricted to Siri-operated commands for composing messages or making calls.
The new interface provides direct access to a contact information section, displaying saved profiles, and a dedicated favorite contacts area for quick access to frequently messaged individuals. Users can also view recent chats and their call history directly within the app.
Furthermore, the updated WhatsApp for CarPlay includes new shortcut buttons. These allow drivers to send messages using dictation or to place calls without needing to use voice commands, offering more flexibility for drivers. OpenAI also recently enabled its ChatGPT Voice mode for CarPlay users.
