Digital Devotion: Udupi Krishna Puja Goes Online

This year's Janmashtami celebrations at Udupi's Shri Krishna Mutt saw a significant digital turnout, allowing devotees who couldn't travel to participate remotely. The Sri Mandir app provided a platform for conducting important rituals, including Argya Pradana, Abhishek, and the Krishna Mantra Maha Yajna, all performed by the mutt's priests.
The app also enabled devotees to contribute to anna daan, a vital part of the Janmashtami festivities. Since its partnership with Udupi Shri Krishna Mutt began in June, the Sri Mandir app has hosted over 10,000 devotees for pujas, chadhava, and seva. Participants were primarily from Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.
Prashant Sachan, founder and CEO of Sri Mandir, emphasized that technology serves to maintain devotees' connection with temple traditions when physical attendance is not possible, without replacing the sacred rituals performed by priests.
