- Vex robot autonomously follows pets, filming from a low angle.
- AI identifies specific pets and stitches footage into stories.
- Companion bot Aura understands human moods and converses.

Tech companies are evolving pet monitoring with Vex, a new autonomous robot companion unveiled at CES. This compact sphere, designed to resemble a friendly creature, follows pets like cats and dogs, capturing footage from their eye-level perspective.
Utilizing AI and visual recognition, Vex identifies individual pets and compiles daily recordings into "moving narratives." While examples of the edited footage are not yet available, the concept promises a novel way to view a pet's life.
Alongside Vex, FrontierX also presented Aura, a larger spherical bot featuring a screen for a face. Aura is positioned as a companion for humans, with capabilities to interpret body language and facial expressions, and engage in LLM-powered conversations. Both robots are in early development, with preorders anticipated within the next six months.
