Verizon Leads Wireless Race, Rivals Close Behind
27 Jan
Summary
- Verizon ranked best in overall performance, reliability, and responsiveness.
- T-Mobile leads in median download speed, significantly outperforming rivals.
- All three carriers offer speeds well above 100Mbps, sufficient for mobile activities.

A comprehensive nationwide survey of wireless network performance reveals Verizon as the top-ranked carrier overall. The RootMetrics State of the Mobile Union report, based on millions of tests, placed Verizon ahead in performance, reliability, responsiveness, and video capabilities. However, the competitive landscape shows minimal differences among the top three carriers.
AT&T and T-Mobile tied for network speed, while Verizon and AT&T shared the top spot for call and text performance. T-Mobile significantly leads in median download speed, with its 374.5Mbps far surpassing Verizon's 226.5Mbps and AT&T's 193Mbps. This advancement is largely attributed to the deployment of mid-band 5G spectrum.
