- The bridge ensures all-weather connectivity to the Kashmir Valley.

Industrialist Anand Mahindra recently shared a captivating video of the Vande Bharat Express journeying across the Chenab Rail Bridge in Jammu and Kashmir. He described the experience as breathtaking and a notable addition to his personal bucket list.
The Chenab Rail Bridge, an engineering feat, stands as the world's highest railway arch bridge. It measures 1,315 meters in length and reaches a height of 359 meters above the Chenab River, surpassing the Eiffel Tower. The construction involved launching 93 deck segments and utilizing approximately 28,000 tonnes of steel, engineered to withstand extreme weather and seismic activity.
This bridge is a crucial part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link project, designed to establish reliable all-weather rail connectivity to the Kashmir Valley. This railway line holds strategic importance for the region, which is prone to winter travel disruptions caused by heavy snowfall. The project, initiated in 2003, was completed after more than two decades, enhancing both accessibility and security in the sensitive area.
