US Seizes Starlink Satellite Infrastructure in Myanmar Scam Crackdown
15 Nov
Summary
- US issues seizure warrant to Starlink over satellite infrastructure used in Myanmar scam
- Google sues 25 people behind "staggering" scam text operation using phishing-as-a-service
- Leaked Chinese hacking docs reveal vast surveillance and data theft capabilities

In a major crackdown on fraud, the US government has seized Starlink satellite infrastructure that was being used in a scam compound in Myanmar. This action is part of a larger interagency initiative called the District of Columbia Scam Center Strike Force, announced by US law enforcement this week.
Separately, tech giant Google has taken legal action against 25 individuals it alleges are behind a "staggering" and "relentless" scam text operation. The scammers are said to be using a notorious phishing-as-a-service platform called Lighthouse to carry out their activities.
In another development, a trove of around 12,000 leaked documents from the Chinese hacking contractor firm KnownSec has provided a rare glimpse into China's vast surveillance and data theft capabilities. The leaked materials include hacking tools, data extraction programs, and a target list of over 80 organizations from which the hackers claim to have stolen sensitive information such as Indian immigration data and South Korean telecom records.
These events underscore the growing threat of cybercrime and state-sponsored hacking, with both governments and tech companies taking increasingly aggressive measures to combat these challenges.
