DXS International, a U.K.-based provider of healthcare technology for the National Health Service (NHS), announced a cyberattack impacting its office servers. The security incident was detected on December 14 and immediately contained with the assistance of the NHS. A specialized cybersecurity firm has been engaged to investigate the full scope of the breach.
While DXS stated that front-line clinical services remain unaffected, a ransomware group known as DevMan has claimed responsibility. The hackers alleged on their dark web site that they exfiltrated 300 gigabytes of data from the company. The specific nature of the stolen data and whether it includes patient information is currently unknown.
DXS has reported the incident to law enforcement and regulators, including the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). NHS England has also confirmed they are not aware of any patient services being impacted. DXS's software assists in cost reduction for physicians and touches patient records, with some solutions hosted on the NHS's Health and Social Care Network.
