- Allows citizens to update details and order PVC cards online

In a significant move, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is set to launch a new and improved Aadhaar mobile app by December 2025. The upgraded app will replace the current mAadhaar and offer a range of advanced features to streamline identity services for Indian citizens.
The new Aadhaar app will incorporate cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and Face ID login, to provide a more secure and user-friendly experience. Additionally, it will feature QR code verification and consent-based data sharing, further enhancing the overall security of the Aadhaar ecosystem.
Notably, the app will allow citizens to update personal details such as name, address, and date of birth, as well as download their Aadhaar cards and track any updates to their information. Furthermore, users will be able to order PVC Aadhaar cards online, reducing the need to visit Aadhaar Seva Kendras for sensitive changes like mobile number updates, which will still require in-person biometric authentication.
The pilot testing for the new Aadhaar app has already been completed, and the UIDAI is confident that the app will significantly reduce queues and give users greater control over their Aadhaar-related information.
