Truecaller Reaches 500M Users, Eyes 1 Billion

Sweden-based Truecaller has achieved a significant milestone, reaching 500 million monthly active users across its platform as of April 2026. This growth includes over 350 million users in India, its largest market, and 150 million users internationally. The company has added 50 million users in the past year, demonstrating a doubling of its user base over the last five years.

CEO Rishit Jhunjhunwala highlighted the increasing need for solutions against spam and scams, attributing the user growth to the trust placed in Truecaller for safer communication. The company is committed to enhancing its technology with smarter features and capabilities.

Truecaller is actively expanding its offerings beyond its core caller ID service. Recent innovations include a feature allowing family group admins to block scam calls and ongoing experiments with AI for call screening and automated responses. The company is also testing AI to monitor calls for scam-related keywords, such as 'digital arrest.'

However, Truecaller faces competition in India from the nation's Caller Name Presentation (CNAP) system. Despite these challenges, the company has set its sights on its next ambitious goal: one billion users, aiming to build a more secure and trustworthy communication ecosystem.
