TP-Link has launched the Deco BE23, a new mesh networking system that brings Wi-Fi 7 technology to a more accessible price point. A three-unit package is available for $180, significantly undercutting competitors and promising to cover up to 6,500 square feet. This system uses Wi-Fi 7's advancements like 4K QAM and Multi-RU for streamlined data flow.
The Deco BE23 units are compact and understated in design, measuring 5.9 x 5.9 x 2.4 inches. They utilize 2x2 streaming over 2.4 and 5GHz bands, with a claimed peak throughput of 2.882 Gbps. The system supports up to 150 connections but notably omits the 6GHz band and 320MHz channels.
Performance tests indicate the Deco BE23 offers excellent throughput for its price, exceeding comparable models in real-world speeds at various distances. It faithfully handled demanding tasks like gaming and 4K streaming. However, it lacks a USB port and only includes two 2.5 Gbps networking ports, which might be a limitation for some users.
Setup is managed through the TP-Link Deco app and is reported to be quick and straightforward. The app offers a range of configuration options, including a separate IoT network, integration with smart home devices, security features, and parental controls. The system comes with a two-year warranty and unlimited support.
