Summary
- New eFuse ICs support 1.8V power lines for low-voltage applications.
- Compact SOT-353F package reduces PCB mounting area for devices.
- Overcurrent protection features adjustable thresholds and mask time.
Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation has introduced the TCKE5 Series, a new lineup of four electronic fuses (eFuse ICs). These compact devices integrate multiple protective functions for power supply lines, starting shipments today. They operate from 1.7V to 5.5V and are housed in the small SOT-353F package, ideal for space-constrained designs.
The TCKE5 Series is notable for supporting 1.8V power lines, a critical requirement for many modern electronic devices. This feature makes them suitable for applications such as SD memory cards. The integration of overcurrent and short-circuit protection enhances system reliability. Users can configure the overcurrent detection threshold using an external resistor, with a built-in mask time to prevent nuisance tripping from transient currents.
Available in auto-retry and latch types, these eFuse ICs cater to different system recovery needs. Their small size and low-profile SOT-353F package (2.0×2.1×0.7mm) significantly reduce the PCB footprint, benefiting wearable and IoT device manufacturers. The series aims to expand Toshiba's eFuse IC offerings for a wide range of equipment.
Applications for the TCKE5 Series include power supply circuit protection in USB devices, HDMI devices, laptop PCs, and gaming consoles. The operating input voltage range is 1.7V to 5.5V, accommodating 1.8V, 3.3V, and 5V power lines.
