Tesla Faces Lawsuits for Selling Restricted FSD
24 Mar
Summary
- Tesla accused of charging over $10,000 for FSD.
- Customers claim cars were technologically restricted.
- FSD mode became available in Australia in September.

Elon Musk's Tesla is currently facing significant legal challenges in Australia concerning its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software. Multiple lawsuits have been filed, alleging that the company charged Australian customers more than $10,000 for the advanced autonomous driving feature.
The core of the allegations is that the vehicles sold with this feature were technologically restricted, preventing the FSD mode from being fully activated. FSD, a feature long promised by Tesla and Elon Musk, necessitates continuous human supervision for legal operation on public roads.
FSD mode was made available to owners of specific newer Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in Australia in September. Customers could purchase it for a one-time fee of $10,100 or opt for a monthly subscription of $149. The recent availability has led to numerous social media posts showcasing Teslas driving without direct driver input.
