Summary
- Teradar and an unnamed automaker will test imaging sensors for advanced driving.
- The evaluation focuses on Level 3 and Level 4 autonomous systems.
- Teradar's sensors combine lidar resolution with radar's all-weather capability.

Teradar, a startup, has secured a paid development agreement with an unnamed Michigan-based automaker. The collaboration aims to evaluate Teradar's advanced imaging sensors for potential integration into future hands-free and automated driving systems. This six-month technical evaluation will specifically test Teradar's terahertz imaging sensors for their suitability in Level 3 and Level 4 automated driving systems.
The project is expected to inform the automaker's sensor architecture for vehicles anticipated around the year 2030. Teradar's solid-state terahertz sensors are designed to merge the high resolution of lidar technology with the all-weather reliability of radar. This development marks Teradar's second paid automaker development program this quarter, following a similar agreement with a European automaker.
Teradar anticipates closing in on its first production bids before the end of the current year, with additional bids expected in the first quarter of 2027. The company aims to be production-ready by 2028 through Tier 1 suppliers. Additionally, Teradar expects to raise further capital within the next six to eight months to support expanding automotive development programs and pursue initial production contracts.
