2 Nov
Summary
- Temple wearable pre-orders in India crashed due to high traffic.
- Founder admitted to underestimating traffic and lacking auto-scale.
- The head-worn device monitors mental strain and brain blood flow.
Pre-orders for the Temple health-tracking wearable in India were met with significant technical difficulties as the official website, temple.com, crashed within minutes of bookings opening. The surge in traffic on November 1st overwhelmed the system, leading to access issues.
Founder Deepinder Goyal confirmed the problem on X, admitting that the team "under-estimated the traffic" and lacked auto-scale infrastructure, labeling it a "rookie mistake." His technical teams worked to resolve the situation, and the website was later restored, though he urged customers to "not rush."
The Temple wearable distinguishes itself as a head-worn device, attached near the side of the head, which monitors mental strain and brain blood flow. It is available for Rs 85,000 in six color options.
Recent sightings of the device on prominent figures like badminton star PV Sindhu and cricketer Shubman Gill have increased interest. The company asserts that individuals are not paid to wear or promote Temple.
