Telangana is embracing a digital transformation in vehicle services with the successful rollout of the VAHAN portal. As of the current date, more than 79,000 vehicles have successfully obtained permanent registrations online out of nearly 90,000 applications processed. This digital initiative has also seen a robust uptake in fancy number bookings, with over 3,223 recorded.
The VAHAN portal, developed by the National Informatics Centre, was implemented in phases across Telangana to maintain system stability. This approach, guided by Transport Commissioner K Ilambarithi, ensures a smooth transition for vehicle owners and the department. Dealers are required to finalize the process by installing High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) and uploading vehicle details.
The online fancy number allocation has significantly boosted transparency and fairness in the booking process. The Transport Department continues to enhance the VAHAN portal, progressively adding new features to expand its digital service offerings for citizens.
