The Tapo Doorbell Pro D260, a new 4K video doorbell, has been released, emphasizing a local-first approach that eliminates subscription fees for key features. This device offers dual power options, supporting both hardwiring and battery operation with an impressive battery life of up to 180 days. Its 4K resolution provides twice the detail of previous Tapo models, complemented by a broad 180-degree field of view, enhancing surveillance capabilities.
The D260 integrates dual PIR and radar sensors for improved motion detection, surpassing the capabilities of other Tapo cameras. It features on-device processing for recognizing people, packages, vehicles, and animals, alongside facial recognition, without requiring cloud services. Storage is managed via a microSD card, supporting up to 512GB. The doorbell also supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) for faster and clearer live feeds, and is compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings ecosystems, though it lacks Matter support.
