Microsoft has unveiled a new magnetic charging approach for its recently announced Surface Laptop Ultra. This innovative solution cleverly utilizes a standard USB-C port, integrating magnetic charging capabilities.
The company is calling this new system 'Magnetic Connect.' The charging cable attaches magnetically to a dedicated USB-C port located on the right side of the device. This design choice is noteworthy as Microsoft had previously phased out its proprietary magnetic charging on smaller Surface devices.
Despite the magnetic attachment, the USB-C port itself is not compromised. It fully supports traditional USB-C functions, including video output, data transfer, and other connectivity options. This ensures users retain the full versatility expected from a USB-C port. The Surface Laptop Ultra was initially announced earlier this year and is equipped with Nvidia's RTX Spark chip.
