Steam Controller Sold Out in Minutes!
8 May
Summary
- Steam Controller sold out within 30 minutes of release.
- New reservation queue opens May 8th for US and Canada.
- Users must have a prior purchase to join the queue.

The new Steam Controller experienced an immediate sell-out within 30 minutes of its launch on Monday, May 4th, causing significant stock shortages and reportedly impacting the Steam platform. Prices on resale markets like eBay have reportedly tripled.
Acknowledging the "incredibly frustrating" buying experience, Valve announced on Thursday, May 7th, a new strategy to improve accessibility and combat scalping. This includes a reservation queue system scheduled to begin Friday, May 8th, at 10 am PT. Initially, this reservation system will be available for customers in the US and Canada, with plans to expand to the UK, EU, and Australia in the coming weeks.
To be eligible for the reservation queue, accounts must be in good standing on Steam and have made a purchase prior to April 27, 2026. Additionally, individuals who have already purchased a Steam Controller are ineligible to reserve another one. Successful reservation holders will have a 72-hour window to complete their purchase once stock becomes available and an order email is sent to their account.
