26 Oct
Summary
- New battery add-on features active cooling to prevent overheating.
- The semi-solid-state battery cells enhance safety and reduce puncture risks.
- This accessory is more expensive than the Starlink Mini dish itself.

The LinkPower Ultra battery bank, designed for the portable Starlink Mini dish, introduces an active cooling system to combat overheating. This built-in fan activates at 52°C, ensuring reliable performance, especially during prolonged outdoor use in warm conditions. The enhancement addresses user concerns about previous models getting too hot.
Further improving safety, the Ultra utilizes semi-solid-state battery cells. PeakDo states this technology makes the battery more stable and less prone to fire or explosion if punctured, reducing the risk of thermal runaway. The battery is also slightly thinner than previous versions.
Despite its advancements, the LinkPower Ultra is priced at $329, surpassing the Starlink Mini dish's cost. However, a $30 discount is currently offered for a limited time. Initial shipments are expected to take 7 to 15 days to reach the United States from China, with plans for an Amazon listing in early November.
This third-party accessory helps bridge the gap for users needing portable Starlink power. However, rumors suggest SpaceX may be developing its own integrated battery solution for future Starlink Mini models, potentially launching soon.
