Fauna Robotics, a New York-based startup, is pioneering a new category of robots with its compact humanoid, Sprout. Designed from the ground up for safe interaction with humans, Sprout is intended for deployment in everyday environments such as homes, schools, offices, and retail spaces, moving beyond traditional industrial or research settings.

Sprout stands approximately 3.5 feet tall and weighs about 50 pounds. Its design prioritizes safety with lightweight materials, a soft-touch exterior, and limited pinch points, eliminating the need for safety cages. Quiet motors and smooth movements contribute to a less intimidating presence in shared spaces.

Instead of complex hands, Sprout features simple grippers suitable for fetching objects and basic interactions. Its flexible limbs allow for natural movement, including walking, kneeling, and crawling, with the ability to recover from falls. Onboard NVIDIA compute powers its perception, navigation, and human-robot interaction capabilities.
