- New Zealand is the first market to receive the 'Promoted Playlists' feature.

Spotify has introduced a significant new feature, 'Promoted Playlists,' granting users unprecedented control over the streaming service's algorithm. This beta feature, currently available only to Premium subscribers in New Zealand and in English, allows for the creation of highly personalized playlists through detailed text prompts.
The 'Promoted Playlists' feature distinguishes itself by considering a user's complete listening history on Spotify, from their very first song to the present. Users can craft prompts that not only reflect current preferences but also encompass the 'full arc' of their musical journey, offering a much deeper level of customization compared to existing AI playlist options.
This evolution from previous AI playlist tools enables more specific instructions, such as requesting music from top artists over the last five years or compiling tracks for a workout with a specific energy arc. The playlists will also offer contextual information about why certain recommendations are made and provide starter prompts to assist users in getting started.
