Spotify Narrates Magazine Articles Now

Spotify has entered the realm of long-form journalism with the introduction of narrated magazine articles. The streaming service announced on Tuesday, May 26, that it will now feature audio versions of articles from esteemed outlets. These include publications such as Rolling Stone, The Atlantic, Vogue, and WIRED.

At its launch, the platform offers more than 650 long-form articles. These are accessible in English to users in markets where audiobooks are already available. Each narrated article, which is under two hours in length, is included within the monthly audiobook allowance for Premium subscribers. For free users, individual articles can be purchased for $1.99.

Spotify views this expansion as a natural progression, similar to its successful integration of podcasts, aiming to cultivate listening habits for longer-form content like books. This move strategically extends its existing audio library, encompassing music, podcasts, and audiobooks, to engage users with diverse content formats.
