Spire & Deloitte Launch Orbit Cyber Defense

Spire Global has secured a significant contract with Deloitte to develop and operate eight advanced satellites. These spacecraft will be instrumental in Deloitte's pioneering efforts to establish on-orbit cybersecurity capabilities, aiming to provide real-time defense against emerging threats. This partnership expands upon their initial collaboration, which saw the successful deployment of the Deloitte-1 satellite earlier this year.

The new constellation will feature 'Silent Shield,' a sophisticated intrusion-detection payload designed specifically for space environments. This system includes both hardware and software components to identify and mitigate cyber risks targeting satellites. Deloitte emphasizes that authentic cybersecurity testing for space assets necessitates in-orbit operations, a crucial aspect given the increasing connectivity and number of satellites.

Deloitte plans to launch these eight satellites in clusters over the next 18 months. The constellation will serve as a testbed for cyber defenses, generate vital operational data, and model potential attack vectors across multiple spacecraft. This initiative is poised to enhance the security and resilience of the rapidly growing satellite networks.
