Sony has unveiled the Xperia 1 VIII, marking a significant design departure with its new chunky square camera island. This update moves away from the brand's previous vertical camera layout, adopting a more modern aesthetic.
The most notable hardware upgrade is the substantially improved telephoto camera. It features a large 1/1.56-inch-type sensor, nearly four times larger than its predecessor, aiming to deliver exceptional image quality.
Complementing the hardware, an AI camera assistant offers real-time suggestions for filters, framing, and lens selection before a photo is taken. This feature aims to provide more intelligent photography assistance.
Further enhancements include new full-stage stereo speakers, tuned in collaboration with Sony Music and Pictures, and upgraded processing for RAW multi-frame capture and macro photography. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, with options for up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage.
