Sonder, a new app developed by four London-based founders, aims to revolutionize the dating app experience by replacing monotonous profiles with creative, unstructured digital collages. The founders observed widespread frustration with existing platforms, leading them to design an app that prioritizes authenticity and reduces user burnout. Users can build profiles resembling mood boards, fostering connections beyond typical dating app pressures.

The app supports both platonic and romantic connections, enhanced by organized in-person events such as 'Speed Drawing' and 'Presentation Night.' These events, designed to be less intimidating than traditional dating scenarios, are recurring, encouraging repeat engagement similar to community run clubs. This approach offers a low-pressure environment for users to meet others organically.

While established apps experiment with AI, Sonder uses it subtly for match suggestions by analyzing profile screenshots, but refrains from AI profile generation to maintain a human touch. The founders, who currently work on the app part-time alongside their day jobs, hope to secure funding to dedicate themselves fully to Sonder, motivated by the positive impact they see from users genuinely connecting at their events.
