Snapseed iPhone App Gets Major Camera Update
19 Feb
Summary
- Snapseed now features a camera with manual controls.
- Users can apply retro film emulation effects.
- This is the second major update in under a year.
Google has enhanced the iPhone version of its popular photo editing application, Snapseed, by integrating a new camera with comprehensive manual controls. This update introduces features such as adjustable ISO, shutter speed, and focus, alongside optional flash and zoom functionalities. Users can now shoot photos using saved editing styles and apply various retro film effects reminiscent of Kodak and Fujifilm. This significant enhancement follows a major redesign and feature addition in June 2025, which was the first substantial update since 2021. Previously, the camera functionality was subtly introduced in December 2025 but lacked direct integration. The developers have confirmed that the Android version of Snapseed will receive these updates, though it is anticipated to be "a few months" away. This renewed focus marks a significant revitalization for the app, which had seen limited support for several years after its acquisition in 2012.
