Wave Industries: 5 Years of MVR Success!
30 Oct
Summary
- Two MVR systems have operated for five combined years.
- Steam consumption reduced to 29.5% with 2.5% savings.
- Initial success led to a repeat order for advanced technology.
Wave Industries Pvt. Ltd.'s Sugar Division in Dhanaura has validated Spray Engineering Devices Limited's (SED) in-house Mechanical Vapour Recompression (MVR) technology through sustained performance and repeat adoption. Two MVR systems have now accumulated five years of combined operational experience at the Dhanaura unit.
The initial MVR-based concentrator successfully operated for two years, demonstrating steam savings of approximately 2-3%. This impressive performance led Wave Industries to place a repeat order for a second juice concentrator, extending the application of SED's MVR technology within the same facility.
The second MVR installation has since completed three years of operation, maintaining steam consumption between 32% and 29.5% and achieving around 2.5% steam savings. This ongoing success provides a solid reference for MVR technology's efficacy across successive applications at a single sugar plant.
SED's MVR technology functions by recovering and recompressing vapor generated during evaporation for reuse as a heating medium, thereby reducing reliance on fresh steam. For the second application, SED integrated this technology with plate-type falling-film evaporation and advanced process controls to meet the plant's specific requirements and steam performance targets.
