Sarvam, an Indian AI startup, launched its Indus chat app for web and mobile users on February 21, 2026. This move enters a rapidly growing generative AI market in India, where global players like OpenAI and Google are prominent.
The Indus app serves as an interface for Sarvam's newly announced Sarvam 105B large language model. The startup unveiled both its 105B and 30B models earlier this week at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. Partnerships with companies like HMD and Bosch were also announced.
Currently available in beta on iOS, Android, and the web, Indus allows users to input queries via text or speech and receive responses in both text and audio. The service is currently limited to India. Users can sign in using their phone number, Google, or Apple ID.
Sarvam, founded in 2023, has raised $41 million to date from investors including Lightspeed Venture Partners. The company is focused on developing large language models tailored for India's diverse linguistic landscape, aiming to provide domestic alternatives to global AI platforms.
